Orange juice with warm water also relieves chest congestion; 2-3 cloves fried in oil can be chewed during the day for softening cough in the chest.

Eating yellow fruits like papaya and pineapple and vegetables like spinach, capsicum and berries also help the body in meting down the hardened cough.
